Financial Controller

As a Financial Controller at Norlys Energy Trading, you will work hands-on with accounting, reporting and process optimisation. You will play an active role in shaping how Finance operates, while building a strong foundation within both accounting and data in a modern trading setup.

About the role
As a Financial Controller, you will take on a broad and hands-on role, contributing to core accounting processes while helping to improve and automate how Finance operates. You will be given responsibility early on, including ownership of accounting tasks for subsidiaries and involvement in the monthly closing process.
This role offers a strong platform to develop both your technical accounting skills and your understanding of data and systems. You will have the opportunity to influence how processes are structured and continuously improved, particularly within automation and reporting.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will work across several areas of Finance, combining operational tasks with process improvements:
- Contribute to the monthly closing process
- Responsible for accounting for selected subsidiaries
- Work with consolidation of group accounts
- Handle operational expenditure (opex), including reporting
- Support and drive automation of processes, reconciliations and reporting
- Contribute to the Finance system landscape with shared ownership
- Perform basic tasks within VAT and tax
- Deliver ad hoc reporting as needed

What we are looking for

Must-have:
- A basic understanding of and interest in accounting
- A relevant educational background within finance and/or accounting (preferred)
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- A curious and proactive mindset
- Strong sense of ownership and drive
- Ability to work independently
- Attention to detail
Nice-to-have:
- Interest in and understanding of data
- Practical experience or interest in using AI
- Experience with Power BI
- Interest in VAT and tax
