Senior Trader – Cross-Commodity Trading
Details
Are you interested in the bigger drivers behind the energy markets? Do you enjoy following market developments closely and using analysis to identify trading opportunities across power, gas, and emissions? As Senior Trader in Cross-Commodity Trading, you will join a team working with proprietary market views, fundamental analysis, and trading across different energy commodities and tenors.
The team
Cross-Commodity Trading works across power, gas, and emissions markets with a strong focus on fundamental market analysis for both short term and long term trading. The team follows developments across the global energy markets and works closely with desk analysts and software developers to make effective trading decisions. The environment is collaborative, and discussions around market direction, positioning, and risk management are a natural part of the daily work.
The role
As Senior Trader, you will spend most of your time analysing developments across the energy markets and using those insights to identify trading opportunities across power, gas, and emissions. You can work with both the short term markets from day ahead to front month or the long term markets from front month and further out, dependent on your expertise and experience.
The role combines market analysis, strategy development, and trading execution. You will make daily trading decisions, risk management, and discussions around market positioning, while also contributing to the team’s longer-term market views and trading strategies.
Key responsibilities
You will work closely with the market on a daily basis and contribute to both trading performance and the team’s market understanding across commodities.
- Analyse developments across the European energy markets to identify trading opportunities.
- Develop and execute trading strategies across power, gas, and emissions markets.
- Follow market fundamentals and assess how changes in weather, supply, demand, and regulation and politics affect market prices.
- Forecast market movements using data, analytics, and fundamental market insights.
- Manage market risk and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Build and maintain relationships with market participants, partners, and stakeholders.
- Evaluate trading performance using P&L and other relevant trading metrics.
This role is for someone who enjoys understanding what drives the energy markets and using that knowledge in trading decisions. You need to be curious about the market, comfortable working with complexity and uncertainty, and motivated by finding opportunities across commodities.

What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced energy trader with a strong understanding of the energy markets and an interest in fundamental market drivers. You are analytical, commercially minded, and comfortable making decisions in changing market conditions.

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and manage risk in volatile markets.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related field.
What we offer
At Norlys Energy Trading, you will join a growing trading company with a strong market focus and skilled colleagues across trading and analytics. We work in an environment where people are trusted with responsibility and where professional discussions and market knowledge are part of everyday work.
