The team
The Trading Data team provides and operates an end-to-end data pipeline, from ingestion and data platforms to selected trade decision tools, in support of the commercial teams. Trading Data delivers shared data solutions and platforms that enable commercial use of data, while the commercial teams remain accountable for how data is applied in trading and commercial decision-making. Data platforms both cover standard systems and own developed systems on top of that.
As Norlys Energy Trading currently increases its focus on data-driven decision making, we are expanding our team to support this strategic initiative.
The team works directly with the front desk (traders, front-office devs, and quants), so the effect of our work is clearly visible and has a high impact on our business.

The role
As Trading data steward, you will play a key role by being responsible for the landscape, lifecycle and availability of trading decision data across the organization. You will work closely with traders, analysts and other trading data teams to ensure that market, fundamental, and internal data is easy to find, well-structured, and fit for purpose.
As Trading Data Steward, you are responsible for maintaining order, transparency, and trust in the company’s common Trading Data repository. Your role is to ensure that traders, analysts, and quants always know what data exists, where it comes from, who owns it and how it is produced.
This is an operational role where the key to success lies in the ability to understand the business’ data needs through close dialogue with stakeholders and translate that into concrete actions that are prioritized and implemented through a process that you are a central part of.
This is a stewardship role, not a technical one. You do not build pipelines or scrapers yourself. Instead, you ensure that data sources are properly onboarded, owned, documented, validated, monitored, and - when necessary - retired.
You will reference our Head of Trading Data.
What you will be responsible for
- Acting as data steward and owner for selected groups of trading datasets (market, fundamental, internal).
- Maintaining a clear and reliable overview of available trading data, including purpose, scope, ownership, and usage.
- Ensuring trustworthy metadata and documentation, so data can be understood without tribal knowledge.
- Managing the full lifecycle of data sources: onboarding, validation, monitoring, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Overseeing data quality and fitness for use, in close dialogue with commercial users.
- Ensuring transparency around data providers, scrapers, dependencies, and delivery mechanisms.
- Maintaining and prioritizing the backlog of new or changed data needs from the business.
- Supporting and enforcing commercial data governance as defined by senior leadership.
- Depending on your profile, you may also take part in shaping the product direction of one of our shared data platforms.

- Experience from data-heavy commercial environments (energy trading, commodities, finance, analytics, or similar).
- A strong sense of ownership, structure, and accountability.
- Comfortable working at the intersection of business users and technical teams.
- Structured, persistent, and detail-oriented, with strong commercial awareness.
- Clear communicator who builds trust across functions.
As Trading Data Steward at Norlys Energy Trading, you will be working where data truly matters. Desirable skills
- Familiarity with energy market data (power, gas, prices, curves, fundamentals).
- Experience working with data governance, data ownership, or stewardship models.
- Experience using tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar.
- Experience working with OKRs or structured prioritization frameworks.
