During WindEnergy Hamburg, Norlys Energy Trading once again welcomes industry peers to the private setting of the Anglo-German Club.
This morning brings together a limited number of invited guests for brunch, market perspectives and conversations with peers before the exhibition. With BESS as the common thread, the programme brings together different perspectives on battery storage, from project development and portfolio optimisation to the digital foundations needed to manage increasingly complex energy portfolios.

A conversation between Beate Norheim and Eddie Weissenborn from Norlys Energy Trading.
Recognised as one of Norway’s leading BESS experts, Beate has led the development of battery storage at Cloudberry — from the company’s first BESS to a growing portfolio of standalone and hybrid projects. She is also part of the team behind the market optimisation of Cloudberry’s 2 TWh hydro, wind and battery portfolio.
Drawing on that practical experience, Beate and Eddie will discuss lessons from building and optimising BESS projects, where battery storage creates commercial value today, and what it means for renewable energy portfolios.
From project decisions to digital foundations
A joint session with Jakob Büsch from PNE and Fabian Giesche from applied technologies.
Jakob works with hybrid energy projects, focusing on the integration of battery storage with wind and solar. Fabian works at the intersection of energy projects, operations and technology, focusing on the digital foundations needed to manage growing wind, solar and battery storage portfolios.
Drawing on the collaboration between PNE and applied technologies, they will explore how decisions made during project development shape what can later be analysed, compared and scaled across a portfolio.
Using typical decision points from their work, Jakob and Fabian will discuss where a common data model adds value, where specialised systems and established tools still make sense, and how these choices affect the management of increasingly complex energy portfolios.
